Tours/Education Programs Aboriginal Awareness Education Working together to build our nation "It would be so much easier just to fold our hands and not make this fight… to say I, one man, can do nothing. I grow afraid only when I see people thinking and acting like this. We all know the story about the man who sat beside the trail too long, and then it grew over and he could never find his way again. We can never forget what has happened, but we cannot go back nor can we just sit beside the trail." - Chief Poundmaker (circa 1885) Living in harmony is more important today than ever before. Our perceptions of one another can either build or hinder relationships. Wanuskewin's Aboriginal Awareness Education Workshops are designed to facilitate positive change in a non-threatening environment. Partnership, respect, tolerance, teaching, learning, understanding are emphasized in our workshops, and are critical to the future of all. These refreshing, eye-opening sessions challenge participants to re-evaluate Aboriginal stereotypes, discuss traditional and contemporary Aboriginal strategies for change, and move to form lasting Aboriginal partnerships. Wanuskewin has conducted Aboriginal Awareness Education Workshops with employees, senior management, corporate heads, as well as numerous out-of-province businesses. The experience gained along with valuable feedback from employers, employees and administrators has encouraged us to expand our education packages. Workshops have been designed specifically for the Government, Health, Education and Corporate sectors. Workshops can be held on and off-site. "Throughout North America, First Nations cultures and spirituality are being revitalized. Wanuskewin's Aboriginal Awareness Education Workshops are being used to increase knowledge regarding North American Aboriginal cultures from pre-contact times to the present. Our facilitators share their knowledge and experience which helps participants focus on important issues. Thank you for considering this important program." - Cy Standing, Honorary Chairman Wanuskewin Heritage Park |
