How Do I Book a Tour
In order to book a tour the following information is required before we can confirm our ability to accommodate your request. All the requested information is needed before we can confirm as each booking must be coordinated around our existing confirmed itineraries.
- Group & Facilitators name, email address, a phone number, fax number
- Requested Tour Date
- Arrival Departure time
- Number of participants and age
- Your 2 program choices
Any other relevant details such as:
- Special needs
- Additional programs
- Food service arrangements
Tour bookings are taken on a first come basis. In order to speed up the turn around time between your booking request and a confirmation please include the following additional information:
- Include 2 alternative dates in case your first choice is fully booked
- Include 2 alternative programs in case your first choices are fully booked
All confirmed Tours will receive a confirmation email or fax with an itinerary. After you receive a confirmation please review and advise us if there are any changes you might like to make and we will accommodate you to the best of our ability.
Each days Tour itineraries and programming are closely coordinated with each other so please insure that your anticipated arrival time is correct. If you are late then it will be your itinerary will be impacted.
Groups that are larger than 40 will be broken down into smaller groups, to make the program interpretation more manageable and enjoyable. If you are booking a larger group please indicate which programs you would like to arrange for each group.
We suggest booking your Tour at least two weeks in advance at minimum in order to avoid disappointment. The earlier you book the more likely we will be able to accommodate your requested date and programming. Any tours cancelled within a week of the tour date may be charged an administration fee.
Please insure your group is dressed appropriately for the day as much of our programming takes place outside rain or shine, and we are very limited in our ability to accommodate program changes the day of the booking.
All questions and Tour requests should be sent to Fax 306.931.4522 Att. TOURS, or emailed to tours@wanuskewin.com .
Unloading and Parking
The loading and unloading of students can be done in the parking lot located at the west side of the building. Please ask the bus driver to park the bus(es) in the overflow parking lot at the south end of the facility. Private vehicles may use the available spaces in the parking lot.
Before the Tour Begins
Please meet at the main lobby entrance or just outside depending on group size and Identify your group to our interpreter Staff. An interpreter will greet your group and will begin the tour. You will be asked to check all bags when entering the main entrance. Please ask the tour guide where you can store these items. No chewing gum or consumption of food or drink is allowed in the gallery, except in designated areas. As well, we ask that you refrain from taking photographs of the artwork.
During Your Tour
It is essential that adults/teachers are present during the tour. We require one adult per ten students in your group. Your assistance will be needed to prepare and distribute materials, monitor students, supervise the use of equipment and, most importantly, assist in cleanup. Chaperones are also expected to assist in monitoring the tour group and ensure that the artwork and walls are not touched. Please remind your students prior to your arrival and during your visit that the works of art must not be touched.
Visiting the Gift Shop
Your groups may visit the Wanuskewin Heritage Park Gift Shop which is open during public hours. Only one adult-supervised group of 5-6 students are allowed to enter the gift shop at a time.
Please provide this material to each adult accompanying your group. Thank you for your assistance in making this the most pleasant experience for all those involved.
If there is something we missed or you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact us.
